Stretching from the desert heart of Australia (the Red Centre) to the northern tropics around Darwin (the Top End), the Northern Territory offers some of the most breathtaking and contrasting scenery you’ll ever see. The towering presence of Uluru casts a magical spell on all who visit, but is rivalled by other Outback destinations such as dramatic Kings Canyon, and by the World Heritage wilderness and wetlands of Kakadu National Park.
Two distinct climate zones reward those who plan their trip carefully. Summers ( Nov-Mar) are very hot in the Red Centre, with temperatures upwards of 35°c, although the desert environment means chilly evenings in winter (Jun-Aug). Around Darwin and Kakadu, the Top End starts and ends the year with balmy temperatures and tropical rains, whilst towards the middle of the year the humidity levels drop and the days are warm and sunny.
